We have an exciting new opportunity for an energetic and experienced Head of Project Support and Operations to lead the Operations Team within the Parasites and Microbes (PaM) programme. This role is the professional interface between our PaM Faculty and our internal and external stakeholders, enabling and accelerating the delivery of PaM’s scientific goals and maximising the impact of our scientific research.

The Role:

You will be an experienced leader responsible for all core (non-Faculty) teams in the Parasites and Microbes Programme which provides extensive contributions towards delivering the overall Programme of research. You will be accountable for all operational areas, including, but not limited to; project, risk and administrative management, research administration, informatics, facilities, financial management, as well as, leading people through change. You will be responsible for developing a structure and framework that is fit for purpose and fosters flexibility for enabling scientific growth, this may also require you to lead and influence change and improvements within your delegated area of responsibility.

Essential Skills

Technical Skills:
Experience of working in a leading International research setting and/or leading global project deliveries
Success in designing, leading and implementing programmes of change
Experience in developing and maintaining effective project documentation to a high standard, including project initiation, funding, and communications plans
Experience of operations management including responsibility for budgets, resources and planning
High level of competency with IT systems, productivity software tools and applications
Ability to improve operational efficiency, and deliver approach of continuous improvement to ensure support is effective and appropriate
Proven and significant experience in a management role with line management responsibility of administrative as well as scientific staff
