Faculty/Directorate

The Head of Maintenance is a new senior role in the Estates Service which, along with IT, Facilities, Sustainability and Health and Safety, forms the Directorate of Infrastructure.  Estates Service is responsible for campus development, compliance, carbon management and maintenance.

What you will be doing:

  • This is a senior role in the Estates Service and its primary focus is to provide effective leadership and management to the Maintenance Section which includes the Direct Labour Organisation (DLO), Grounds and Gardens, Contracts Management and Small Works delivery.
  • Reporting to the Associate Director Estates, the Head of Maintenance will exercise a high level of autonomy in leading the Maintenance Section, ensuring that all aspects of the section contribute to the achievement of the Estates Service’s vision and business plan.
  • The Head of Maintenance will take the lead on developing the strategic, tactical and operational requirements for maintenance, statutory compliance, asset information and condition across the University.

Qualifications/ experience:

  • Level 6 (Degree) qualification in relevant subject.
  • Membership of appropriate Professional Body.
  • Extensive experience of managing the provision of estates and building maintenance services in a large multi-site/building organisation.
  • Extensive knowledge of building and maintenance standards.
