Full time starting salary is normally in the range of £55,753 per annum to £61,942 per annum with potential progression up to £76,988 per annum

Location: Cranfield, Bedfordshire (although based at our Cranfield campus, regular travel will also be required to our Shrivenham campus)

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic professional to provide leadership and strategic direction to three critical library functions supporting Cranfield’s teaching and research community as part of a new Library Leadership team.

About the Role

This is a key reconfigured role within the Library Service as one of two Team Heads reporting to the University Librarian, requiring wide professional knowledge, the capability to drive the development of new strategic directions, and the ability to lead the staff and manage significant functional areas.

The Education, Research and Skills Support Teams are responsible for providing professional support and expertise for the academic staff, researchers and students of the University covering information literacy, and scholarly communication, study skills and pre/in-sessional English for Academic Purposes (EAP). You will have responsibility for staff located at our Cranfield and Shrivenham campuses as well as home workers.

About You

You should hold a postgraduate qualification in Library/Information Science (or similar) and have substantive experience in an appropriate library environment preferably within the HE sector, at least some of which should have been in a managerial position. You will possess an excellent mix of communication, interpersonal and strategic thinking skills combined with detailed knowledge of the changing open research and digital literacy landscapes which will help you plan and shape services for the future.

You will be expected to engage with, and influence, staff across the University (and beyond) to achieve collective goals, serving as a role model to Library staff with your flexible, enthusiastic, and positive attitude.
