Job description

Vision 2029, the organisation’s overarching strategic plan, articulates a clear and bold ambition for the future of digital provision across the College, supported by King’s Online. Specifically, it references an “aim to be the UK leader in online and blended delivery by 2029”.

To ensure this objective of Vision 2029 is realised, King’s Online is seeking to recruit a Head of Learning Technology who will be responsible for management and development of learning technologies, systems, and tools.  Principally, they will lead the development and implementation of a product strategy for our Moodle-based design system within King’s Online.

Skilled in learning management systems for online learning, they will be passionate about using technology to expand access to learners around the world.  Managing teams of web developers and UX specialists, the postholder will drive data-driven, student-centred product innovation.

Equally, as a key member of the King’s Online senior leadership team, the successful candidate will enable growth of the online and blended portfolio, through simplifying programme build and by empowering the academic community, in order to uphold the values of a quality King’s education.

King’s Online is part of the new School for Professional and Continuing Education, it was formed in 2015 and develops a range of fully online courses and programmes.  You’ll be joining us at an exciting time as we seek to redefine online education and realise King’s strategic ambition of being the leading provider of online and blended learning by 2029. 

About the School of Professional and Continuing Education (PACE)

King’s Online is part of the newly formed PACE. PACE brings together King’s Foundations, Summer, Language Centre, King’s Online and King’s Professional & Executive Development into one home. All of the areas are well-established, with the new function providing a stronger platform for the areas to work collaboratively with our faculties, offering greater impact around educational innovation and transformational learning experiences for our students.  This post reports to the Director of King’s Online.

Hybrid working

The role is primarily based at King’s Strand Campus though you may be required to travel to other campuses on occasion.  As part of King’s implementation of hybrid working, all team members can work remotely for part of the week if they wish.
