About Us

We have built an External Relations Directorate that has brought together an integrated Communications & Engagement and Student Recruitment & Marketing service. The Directorate is made up of several teams including Communications & Engagement, Marketing, Recruitment and Conversion, Outreach and Access, Design and Digital, Events and Advancement, and the International Office.

We are looking for team members who will be part of embedding an innovative practice and a digital first mindset within our External Relations Directorate. About the Job

We are seeking an experienced Head of International to lead the international office at UEL, reporting to the Director of Recruitment and Admissions. Leading a globally dispersed team you will be responsible for the identification and development of the international student recruitment strategy, partnerships, business relations and opportunities in support of the University’s internationalisation objectives. Your primary focus will be on the recruitment of students from key markets to ensure that UEL meets its objectives and targets in terms of recruitment and enrolment for its London campuses.

You will have demonstratable leadership experience in international student recruitment within the UK Higher education sector. Key responsibilities include:

    The development and implementation of the international strategy including recruitment, ensuring integration with UEL Corporate objectives.  

    Lead on the partnership and stakeholder strategy with the University’s international pathway provider.  

    To manage, oversee and support the international team in planning and undertaking recruitment missions that will include recruitment fairs, schools and college visits, alumni events and other events that will lead to successful student recruitment. 

    To keep up to date with relevant legislation and best practice across the sector and disseminate to internal and external stakeholders as relevant. 

    To be responsible for the development and oversight of delegated service budgets and staffing, ensuring transparency, accountability and value for money.

    To input into and collaborate with International Compliance, International Admissions, Student Records, the Hub and School staff, to ensure compatibility of procedures and a shared understanding of Tier 4 and other immigration requirements. 

    To manage the international team and provide relevant senior management support with the development and engagement of agent networks.

About You

You will be educated to degree level and/or have equivalent experience. You will demonstrate the ability to communicate a vision for the future, foster successful relationships with key stakeholders and identify, develop and coach talent needed to deliver the international student recruitment targets. You will have In depth knowledge and experience of UK higher education, international student recruitment, working with Tier 4 student immigration and compliance, and other student related immigration routes and leading international student recruitment teams and strategies.
