Updated: about 2 months ago
Location: London, ENGLAND
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 14 May 2021

Finance Business Partnering team

Reporting to the Director of Finance Business Partnering, this high profile and vital role provides wide ranging financial support to Major programmes and projects across the University, alongside UCL’s wider capital portfolio. The post holder will lead and direct a team of permanent and temporary staff who support the programmes and major projects, flexing their time across projects as they move through their lifecycle. Whilst this role will give direction to the team, it is also an active role and will be required to own projects in the portfolio. Alongside the team, this role will provide financial and commercial advice to capital and major projects from inception to completion and beyond. This will span from idea planning and prioritisation, business case development, committee support, cost challenge, and the delivery of post-investment benefits.

This role will also be required to support the broader ongoing assessment of UCL’s capital investment balance across Estates, Information Services Division (ISD), operational continuous improvement, and other areas. This will include supporting committees with reporting and analysis to enable appropriate decision making throughout the project lifecycle; during investment prioritisation, business case development and sign-off, value for money review, and to maximise post-investment learnings.

Given the high-profile nature and the size of the portfolio of projects this role encompasses and the regular interactions with senior UCL and external stakeholders, we seek applicants with a high commercial acumen, and excellent communication skills with financial and non-financial colleagues. A strong working knowledge of business case development and post-investment reviews in a sizeable and complex organisation is strongly desired. The candidate must be a capable and credible finance professional, comfortable with operating and influencing at senior management level, with a track record of financial leadership, managing change and building effective teams.
