Information Services Division (ISD) is the primary provider of IT services to UCL. We support and enhance learning, teaching, research and administrative processes by providing information- and technology-related services to over 50,000 staff and students of UCL and associated institutions.

About the role

As a Head of Faculty IT (HoFIT), you will act as the ‘Chied Information Officer’ for the for the faculty of brain sciences. As HoFIT, you are responsible for safeguarding and ensuring that the IT needs of your Faculty(s) are met and that services are provided through the most efficient and effective channels. You will advocate and strategically business partner to be the voice of your customers within ISD and translate their requirements into IT services that realise their vision.

Your responsibilities will involve the following:

  • Develop and maintain a ‘strategic partner’ relationship with senior customers, maintaining situational awareness to understand and anticipate emerging IT requirements
  • Ensure the development and delivery of agreed IT solutions and local products within acceptable timescales
  • Provide leadership and management of staff in the relevant faculty of brain sciences IT team and Local IT Support Managers responsible for the delivery of Faculty IT speciality services
  • Drive change and continuous service improvement.

About you

As an IT Business Partner or IT Management professional, you have experience managing complex service and technical requirements across a variety of IT specialisms including infrastructure, applications, databases, web and desktop. You've led cross functional teams in complex non-hierarchical organisations, setting the vision and strategy as well as managing, coaching and motivating teams/team members to improve performance. Additionally, you have experience working at a strategic level to design and deliver successful technical change.

You will also be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Substantial IT industry knowledge (service delivery models and emerging technologies for research/ teaching/ learning)
  • Being the "go to person" for technology advice and insight within an organisation
  • Experience delivering projects using Agile Project management methodologies (Scrum/ Scaled Agile Framework) and knowledge of product management concepts
  • Financial management and budgeting experience
