As a result of the pandemic, staff are currently working remotely. HDR UK’s primary office is in London, however we are flexibly working across a number of geographical locations and home working is possible. Travel may be required to HDR UK locations and partner organisations.

Purpose of the post

The role will lead HDR UK’s growing Contracts Team. As the Head of Contracts, the successful candidate will work across the entire organisation to support HDR UK to deliver a range of high-profile public health initiatives including cutting edge efforts to coordinate UK health data infrastructure and facilitate COVID research in the UK and abroad. This includes regular work with universities, funders, and governmental entities regarding complex data infrastructure and research projects. The role will also assist with a variety of business contract mattersincluding supplier agreements and services engagements that support HDR UK’s public health initiatives. This fast-paced role will involve regular contact with senior internal and external stakeholders.

The successful candidate will share our values, have strong influencing and collaboration skills, find practical solutions to complex issues, and be comfortable with working at pace.

Main Responsibilities

• Lead the HDR UK Contracts Team, which supports the whole of HDR UK and its strategic priorities, balancing robust negotiation with timely conclusion of contract matters.
• Line manage a small team of contracts staff, with responsibility for their standards of output and their professional development.
• Lead on maintaining and improving HDR UK’s existing contracting processes, policies, and templates.
• Work across all teams at HDR UK to contribute to other projects or activities as the need arises, including assisting with procurement related tasks.
• Manage the overall risk profile of contracts including escalating matters as appropriate.
• Deputise for the Head of Legal as needed.
