Aston University is one of the country’s leading providers of degree apprenticeships. We have grown significantly since the introduction of the apprenticeship levy in 2017 and aim to build on this growth to enhance and develop relationships with employers across the UK. This role is an exciting opportunity to lead and shape the central apprenticeships team and to provide wider organisational leadership across the university as our provision in this area continues to grow.

You will be responsible for delivering a consistent, strategically aligned end to end service to employer beneficiaries in relation to apprenticeship management, contracting and governance. This will include establishing excellent relationships with employers, apprentices and internal stakeholders. As a recognised subject matter expert, you will advise and guide colleagues across the university in relation to appropriate apprenticeship provision, and the development and delivery of programmes to ensure achievement, compliance and agreed growth aspirations.

The apprenticeships team ensure that all the supporting evidence required by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) is completed, as well as preparing statistical returns to strict deadlines. You will be responsible for setting and monitoring the team’s KPIs and Service Level Agreements. You will need to keep up to date with ESFA funding rules changes and convey these to the team and wider university and adapt processes and procedures to ensure compliance.

Current experience of managing a team in a customer facing environment with knowledge of degree apprenticeship courses and their requirements is essential. The role holder must be able to communicate confidently and professionally to both internal and external stakeholders. Some travel to employers and partner organisations will be required.
