This post is fixed term for 1 year in the first instance

The role and its responsibilities

The Head of Academic Summer School will take responsibility for the strategic direction of the Academic Summer School and lead the development and implementation of the SOAS vision, policies and procedures within the Summer School context. They will lead on developing and maintaining a range of high quality Summer School programmes and drive the marketing and recruitment activities to increase student recruitment. They will be responsible for securing partnership agreements with other universities, in the UK and overseas, and fostering relationships with appropriate external agencies and international networks. Working with academic departments, the Head of Academic Summer School will expand and diversify the portfolio by developing new and innovative programmes.

Skills and experience

We are looking for a motivated professional who has extensive experience of working in an academic or commercial training environment at a senior level, with the skills and credibility to lead on the future direction of the SOAS Summer School. You will need a good understanding of the international higher education market and be able to develop strategies, policies and procedures to address the particular challenges of operating in this area for a small and specialist institution.

The SOAS Academic Summer School is run by a small team within the Research and Enterprise Office and completed its fifth year in 2017, growing year on year and attracting students from all over the world.
