Hardware and Algorithm Developer

We are seeking a Hardware and Algorithm Engineer to join the Bioelectronics research group at the Department of Engineering Science, Institute of Biomedical Engineering (Headington).  The post is funded by the Oxford Martin School and is fixed-term up to 31 December 2022.

We are looking for a highly committed individual with a passion for working in low to middle income countries to join our study examining technological solutions for people with epilepsy in resource poor settings. It is crucial to the success of the project that there is true patient/carer engagement and that all technology driven research is culturally-grounded.


The postholder will help to design and develop a suite of hardware and applications to improve the diagnosis of epilepsy, log seizures and side effects, increase adherence to medication, and raise epilepsy awareness. While the post will be based in Oxford, travel to sites is integral to the project as a whole.

You should possess a Master of Engineering (or equivalent) and have a good understanding of web and mobile technologies.  Experience with applying machine learning techniques applied to seizure detection is essential, as well as developing and deploying algorithms in Python.  You should also have experience in evaluating EEG hardware with signal processing and evaluation methods, including the definition and systems integration of the full technology stack.
