About the Role

The role will bring people together around a coherent strategic vision and dialogue for equality, diversity and inclusion, rooted in the core values of the Luminate Education Group and leading change for an inclusive and fair society. This will provide an innovative approach to advancing equality, consulting, developing, driving and implementing equality objectives which embed change sustainably and create inclusive, restorative and relational learning and working environments.

The role will have direct links with member organisations’ senior leader for equalities, and assure the governing bodies of progress and compliance with and beyond statutory duties.

What You Will Do

  • Identify, lead, develop and implement the equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) strategy and priorities for the Luminate Education Group, strategically advising governors and leadership teams and expanding our external presence through strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Promote and strengthen the Luminate Education Group culture to ensure equality, diversity and inclusion is at the heart of our organisations and professional services
  • Lead on building a culture of inclusivity, working with, advising and supporting settings and departments to build environments of psychological safety and trust
  • Plan and lead the consultation and development of Luminate Education Group Equality Objectives and ensure the rollout of the Race Equality Roadmap, translating strategic thinking to develop actions which engage our staff, students, families, stakeholders and communities.
  • Provide a lead role in developing and leading the group’s capacity to understand and meet the needs of its diverse communities and workforce.
  • Facilitate collaboration on development and teaching of an inclusive anti-racism Curriculum.
  • Ensure equality, diversity and inclusion management and governance frameworks and communications are fit for purpose and effectively support the group to meet its equality objectives, legal obligations and annual reporting requirements.
  • Champion student, staff and stakeholder experiences and organisational practices ensuring all aspects of our provision and services have a continued focus on equality, diversity and inclusion.

About You

  • Degree and / or relevant professional qualification and / or extensive experience in leadership.
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification in equalities, leadership, education, people or related field.
  • A good general education and English and Maths at Level 2 or above.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of diversity & inclusion theory, legislation and policy and extensive experience of their application in large and complex settings. Knowledge of the current issues in equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Evidence developing and implementing strategies, plans , policies, interventions and processes in line with legislation, national policy and organisational strategy across the range of equality issues and protected characteristics.
  • An outstanding leader with experience of leading change and managing diverse work streams working in complex organisations and influencing others to achieve objectives.
  • Using management information reporting and analysis of data to inform planning and improvement.
  • Experience of planning and delivering organisational development and training to achieve specific outcomes relating to knowledge, skills and cultural priorities.
