Applications are invited for a Grants and Contracts Accountant who will lead the Arts/Social Science/Humanities Schools Grants and Contracts team within the Finance Department.

The successful applicant will hold a key role in the team and, reporting to the School Finance Business Partner, will be responsible for managing a portfolio of both research, non-research and studentship awards from a range of funders. The role will be responsible for the whole post award lifecycle from project set up and posting overheads through to monitoring live awards to the final reporting to funders. The post-holder will ensure grants are administered in full accordance with College and funder rules. The successful applicant will be responsible for developing the team and cultivating a proactive and solution orientated approach to managing grants and contracts.

The Grants and Contracts Accountant will be responsible for a portfolio and developing the business partnering service to Principal Investigators. The role holder will work closely with colleagues across many areas of the College to ensure systems and processes are up to date and as efficient as possible.

This is a demanding role, requiring the ability to manage a large number of projects concurrently and would suit a self-directed individual with good organisational and planning skills who enjoys working proactively and as part of a team. You will be expected to deal confidently with multiple stakeholders including academics colleagues, senior managers and a wide range of external funders, and be able to build effective working relationships across the Department.

The post-holder will be expected to keep abreast of developments in College policy and procedure, and to develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues across the College including in particular in Research and Innovation, Principal Investigators, Heads of School and School Managers. Excellent numeracy skills are essential, along with demonstrable experience of grant and contract management in Higher education, team management and excellent IT skills.

Hybrid working is available for this role and it is expected that the successful applicant will be required to work on campus for 2-3 days per week.
