The above full time, fixed term posts are available immediately, until 31st March 2025 in the Defence Data Research Centre at the University of Exeter. The posts are available with the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home. We welcome applicants who wish to pursue the role through flexible working patterns.

The roles

The Defence Data Research Centre, funded by Dstl, is looking for up to two Graduate Research Associates or Postdoctoral Research Fellows to join projects focused on advancing best practices in data-driven decision making within the defence sector.

About you

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

The successful applicant will be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals; identify sources of research funding and contribute to the process of securing funds and make presentations at conferences and other events.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field of study. They will possess sufficient specialist knowledge to develop research programmes and methodologies. They will be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader. Applicants will be able to will strong computational skills and analytical ability, and will be able to participate as part of an interdisciplinary team to develop new research ideas.

Graduate Research Associate

The successful applicant will be computationally adept with good analytic skills, and will be able to participate as part of an interdisciplinary team in the development of new research ideas. They will be able to communicate complex and conceptual ideas to a range of groups.
