The post

The College wishes to recruit a Graduate Research Assistant to support the work of Dr Sarah Bailey. The successful applicant will contribute to research studies that aim to expedite cancer diagnosis in patients with pre-existing health conditions by supporting data preparation and analysis using routinely collected electronic health records. This role also involves coordinating and evaluating the involvement of patient collaborators in the research, reviewing academic research, scientific paper drafting, participating in academic conferences, and project administration. A part time appointment would be considered for the right applicant. This job would suit someone who is interested in pursuing a career in health research.

About you

The successful applicant will be able to work with large electronic datasets, ideally with experience of patient health records. Some experience of statistics would be desirable. They will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information orally and in writing, and prepare proposals for external bodies.

Applicants will be educated to first degree level or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study or equivalent experience and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will be able to work independently and systematically, with experience of working with large datasets, scientific writing, and working with members of the public.
