About the Role

We are seeking ambitious researcher to join Dr Oliver Bannard's B Cell Biology Group at the MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine (MRC WIMM). Our lab has a particular interested in germinal centres—specialised microenvironments where antibodies evolve through iterative cycles of random antibody gene somatic mutagenesis and clonal selection of B cells. The successful candidate will have responsibility to lead a research project aimed at understanding aspects of how antibody-mediated immunity develops following immunisation and during infection. The post holder will also provide advice and guidance to research students where appropriate.

About You

To be considered for this position you should have;

•                Bachelor’s Degree (or Master’s) in Immunology or a closely related area.

•                Possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline (B cell biology, adaptive immunity and/or macrophage biology) to work within established research programmes

•                Ability to manage own research and administrative activities

•                Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write text that can be published, present data at conferences, and represent the research group at meetings

•                Experience of following and adapting protocols and selecting appropriate experimental methodologies

•                Have experience performing tissue imaging experiments (e.g. cryo-sectioning and confocal and/or deep tissue imaging)

•                Experience working on immunology projects that are fundamental in nature and involve cellular or molecular immunology.
