Job Summary - The Resettlement Team at East Devon District Council is looking for a new graduate to support their team.  You will assist with data management, administration, and research to ensure the resettlement service is providing a cohesive and resilient approach to refugee’s integration. You will gain experience in project management, research techniques, and develop an in-depth knowledge of government resettlement schemes and asylum policy. This role is part of the Graduate Business Partnership (GBP) Scheme and offers full-time hours (36.5 hours per week) for 12 months. You will be employed by the University of Exeter and seconded to East Devon District Council which means you’ll have access to the competitive benefits on offer from both organisations.  There is the option for hybrid working with access to offices in Honiton. You will be based at the Centre for Resilience in Environment, Water and Waste (CREWW) at the University of Exeter Streatham campus. About You - You should be a graduate who has a relevant degree in social sciences, social policy or research, who has good verbal and written communication skills, an ability to explain complex issues in a simple manner, and good note taking, attention to detail and interpretation skills. You should have excellent IT skills, the ability to analyse problems to understand root causes, and the ability to collect, analyse and interpret data. You should be problem focussed, have the ability to demonstrate a keenness to understand the issues faced by refugees arriving in a new community, be able to manage and cop with change, and be motivated to improve outcomes for communities. You should have confidence to develop effective working relationships with partners and stakeholders from a wide range of backgrounds and organisations, have the ability to agree, organise and deliver a realistic workload, resolving conflicting priorities where needed, be committed to diversity and inclusion in UK society, and be flexible and adaptable in the face of unexpected circumstances. You should have knowledge of GDPR regulations and importance of confidential when working with vulnerable clients, basic knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities when working with vulnerable adults and children, and cultural awareness and sensitivity around working with those who have fled conflicts.  You should also have experience of data inputting, organising events, using social media as a promotional and communications tool, voluntary work with community groups or in a charity setting, and knowledge of working in resettlement.
