Job Summary - South Hams District Council in partnership with the University of Exeter, have opportunities for two Graduate Planning Officers to join their team.  You will support work across two major projects to deliver a new town on the fringe of Plymouth and work on the Urban Extension at Woolwell.  This is a unique opportunity to be part of an ambitious team involved in developing a new town and places where people live and work. You will develop skills in planning, negotiating, design and gain a deep understanding of master planning and housing delivery. There are excellent development opportunities on offer including the option to work towards the Royal Town and Country professional qualifications. You must have an enthusiasm for town planning and delivery of major development sites as well as interest in working with the built environment and the local community. This role is part of the Graduate Business Partnership (GBP) Scheme and offers flexible/remote working over an 18-month period.  You will be part of the team and as such, will need to make site visits with colleagues and the District Council offices in Totnes. You will be employed the University of Exeter and seconded to Devon County Council which means you will have access to the benefits on offer from both organisations. About You - You should be a recent graduate who has enthusiasm for town planning and delivery of major development sites, is self-motivated, is interested in working with the built environment and the local community, is flexible to change, is adaptable, is able to look at the bigger picture, is curious to learn and confident to ask questions. Previous involvement in planning or design is desirable but not essential.
