About Department/Research Project

Despite being one of the key future technologies in our transition towards a greener future, Li ion batteries receive comparatively little coverage in the school curriculum. The aim of our prior outreach work has been to try to expand the reach of Li ion battery teaching, which has led to resources being developed covering the operation of Li ion batteries [1,2]. Nevertheless there is still more to be done to ensure that all school children learn about this technology. In this project, the intern will develop new resources for explaining Li ion batteries (Catmat: new cathodes. ReLiB: recycling Li ion batteries. Nextrode: Manufacturing Li ion batteries), as well as work on our video project “Behind the lab specs” interviewing battery researchers in industry and academia [3].
