A great opportunity for a Fire Safety Manager to join the University of Surrey’s Estates & Facilities Management team, tasked with ensuring the University’s adherence to Fire Safety Regulations.  

You’ll play a pivotal role in maintaining and updating critical fire safety documentation and act as the designated authority on Fire risk management.

The role

You will serve as the authoritative competent contact for fire safety duties, assuring the University’s compliance and overseeing the formulation, administration and ongoing assessment of fire risk evaluations throughout the University’s residential and core campus facilities, including the management of corrective actions.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Engage in the planning and execution of Capital projects, integrating fire safety considations during the RIBA plan of work stages to facilitate strategic and operational decisions.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive fire safety strategy and policy for the University, ensuring these are following current laws and keeping stakeholders informed of significant fire risks.
  • Maintain and periodically review the University’s fire safety risk register. 
  • Offer proactive support in managing statutory fire safety maintenance, working with the Heads of Capital Projects and Engineering and Maintenance Operations.
  • Implement and oversee a stringent fire safety management system in line with PAS7 Standards and other relevant regulations and legislation.
