We are seeking to recruit a Finance Officer to provide professional support within the Faculty of Art, Business and Social Sciences, home to 6 schools -Arts, Performing Arts, Business Law, Social Sciences and Humanities, this role has a varied and interesting remit.  The role is based in our vibrant and busy Faculty Resource Team, who guide and supports staff with managing both Departmental and Project Budgets.  

Finance Officer Role and Responsibilities

A key requirement of this role is to support our team of Finance and Enterprise Administrators in managing our day to day financial transactions of the faculty, which include raising purchase orders, processing invoices, advising and processing staff expenses and raising casual staff contracts etc. The role will also support revenue reconciliations and a portfolio of projects which includes costing, bidding, project administration, financial monitoring and forecasting.   Working in this busy team no two days will be the same, a real sense of achievement is gained from the satisfaction of helping staff to understand the financial regulations and processes ensuring through your eye for detail the correct  documentation is raised and approved meeting required deadlines to enable the faculties many activities to be successful.  

We are seeking applicants, who have an enthusiasm for seeking solutions with a high level of customer service, a developed financial knowledge with an understanding of financial standards and iR035 would be desirable,  ideally you will have experience of working within a similar financial/resource team. 

Finance Officer Requirements

We are looking for someone with:

  • Proficient in use of office technology including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, email and the Internet. 
  • Good office and administrative experience and knowledge of records management and databases with a high standard of literacy and numeracy.
  • High level of accuracy with a meticulous approach to detail
  • Excellent organisational skills including planning and prioritising in order to meet strict deadlines
  • Strong ability to analyse complex data, highlight trends and anomalies and provide comprehensive reports.
  • Experience of working within a regulatory framework and of costing and supporting projects.
