The Cambridge Stem Cell Institute and Department of Haematology are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team.

The CSCI is a world-leading centre for stem cell research with the mission to transform human health through a deep understanding of stem cell biology. The Institute is core-funded by Wellcome and the MRC, spans three University Schools (Biological Sciences, Clinical Medicine and Physical Sciences) and heads an Interdisciplinary Research Centre involving two additional Schools (Technology and Humanities and Social Sciences). .

The Department of Haematology (DoH) is an internationally renowned biomedical research Department with a particular focus on blood cell formation, blood cancers and thrombosis. It also provides education to undergraduate and postgraduate students, and contributes to clinical activities in haematology. Approximately 60% of haematology research groups are part of CSCI .

The CSCI has recently relocated to the purpose-built new Jeffrey Cheah Biomedical Centre (JCBC) on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. Administration for both Institute and Department is supported via a single team based in the JCBC. The delivery of international research excellence and impact is one of the main drivers for the CSCI and Haematology. Together their research grant portfolio is large, complex and valued at over £150M with an annual spend of more than £25M.

The Finance Manager (FM) supports the Business & Operations Manager (BOM) to manage both CSCI and DoH finances and processes providing strategic input and ensuring compliance with financial procedures and regulations. This includes ensuring the smooth running of all the finance and grant related functions within CSCI and the DoH and managing a team of 4 staff to provide a high quality and customer focussed service at all levels in the Institute/Department. Substantial relevant experience in a finance management role preferably in a Higher Education environment is essential.
