We are looking for a Finance Business Partner to join our team within the College of Science and Engineering working with the College Office and College Wide functions. Finance Business Partners will work closely with senior management teams providing strategic insight, analysis and advice enabling the delivery of sustainable financial forecasting and performance; advocate and support consistent application of finance policy and procedures; and line manage finance partnering team.

The College is made up of seven schools (Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Physics & Astronomy, GeoSciences, Informatics, Mathematics and Engineering), and two main further business units (The Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre [EPCC] and the Bayes Centre).

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Degree or equivalent with a relevant professional financial/accounting qualification (e.g. ICAS, ICAEW, CIMA or CIPFA)
  • A proven record of accomplishment in managing relevant financial and administrative tasks, preferably some in an HE environment.
  • Experience of leading and managing significant projects and budgets.
  • Experience of providing analysis and strategic advice to senior managers.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, proven ability to explain complex finance concepts and the implication of financial decisions to non-specialists, excellent analytical skills and admirable IT skills (in particular, design and use of complex spreadsheets).
  • Superb interpersonal, people management and time management skills, with proven ability to influence others to achieve aims and evidence of successfully developing own team.
