About the role

You will play a key supporting role in the finance delivery at Derby Theatre. You will play an essential part in supporting the Theatre team, to ensure the successful running of the organisation by providing advice on financial matters to staff and artists and implementing necessary financial strategies.

Derby Theatre is part of the University of Derby group; upon appointment you would be employed by Derby Theatre, not as an employee of University of Derby.

Principal accountabilities
  • Use the Oracle finance system to convert requisitions to purchase orders, ensuring
    budget, procurement and/or account coding is accurate
  • Raise and receipt requisitions for activities as requested by the Senior Management Team
  • Monthly housekeeping of purchase orders
  • Act as a procurement card holder to enable card purchases to be processed, maintaining
    records, and completing returns as required
  • Raise sales invoice requests for activities undertaken
  • Provide support for month end processes e.g. GRNI and payroll data
  • Run reports from the finance system to aid budget and project managers to manage their
    budgets and provide support for creation/collation of external returns
  • Ensure all transactions are processed in accordance with Derby Theatre/University
    financial procedures and regulations
  • To coordinate payroll including weekly payroll for productions and monthly payrolls for
    casual members of staff
  • Provide support for year end, audit preparations and for project specific audits by
    providing all required backing information to deadlines
  • Processing of theatre vouchers
  • Where required, support the Assistant Management Accountant with phasing, entering
    and collection of non-pay information for budgets/forecasts
  • Deputize in the absence of the Assistant Management Accountant
  • Collating show and token settlements in line with agreed contracts, box office reports and
    contra charges
  • Be fully aware of health and safety responsibilities
  • Coordinating and processing of One Time Payments

    Benefits

    Holiday: 28 days per annum, including public holidays, rising to 33 days over five years

    Probation: Appointment will be subject to satisfactory completion of a six-month probationary period.

    Notice: One month during probationary period, two months thereafter.

    Benefits: Complimentary or discounted tickets to selected shows (non-transferable and subject to availability), free travel on University of Derby buses.
