Facility Technician

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced technical stores / purchasing person for the Technical team within the Faculty of Engineering.

  • Technical purchasing of Faculty Goods
  • Placing orders with a range of suppliers
  • Supporting students and staff and imparting knowledge of preferred suppliers and alternative solutions for supply of components for both student and staff research projects.
  • Larger goods movement to both Laboratories and workshops and management of supporting storage areas.
  • Maintenance and repair of all forklift and lifting equipment.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of engineering suppliers both locally and nationally and will be able to understand detailed engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Good communication skills and an eye for detail are essential for this role.
  • Proven experience of working in a similar environment, including experience of basic fault diagnosis and resolution
  • Good IT skills, and an ability to learn to effectively use new software or IT systems when required.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to deal with and prioritise a range of ongoing tasks at the same time, and to be able to cope under pressure.
  • Full Driving licence.
