About the role
The Department of Chemistry is looking for a Facilities Office Manager to manage the soft services for the department including the reception and events management functions, across its various buildings. The post-holder also undertakes a number of crucial tasks that ensure the smooth running of the Department including cleaning contracts, catering and vending machines.
This post will involve: managing the reception staff across the Department of Chemistry, ensuring sufficient reception cover for the key chemistry buildings; providing a catering and room booking service for the Department’s functions and meetings, ensuring plans are actioned correctly and on time; acting as the key contact for a variety of suppliers. In addition, you will manage the Events Team who co-ordinate functions from initial enquiries, through organisation of room layouts and catering, to the provision of support throughout the event.
About you
You will have experience in event management with excellent communications skills and the ability to build productive relationships with multiple stakeholders. You will have experience of managing and motivating teams in a service-led environment. You will be well organised and able to prioritise and handle multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting competing deadlines.

This post is to cover the absence of the substantive post-holder, who is taking a period of maternity leave and is fixed term post for up to 12 months available immediately
