The opportunity

As part of the Estates Department, Facilities Assistants Team you will use your skills to deliver a range of customer-focused facilities support and premises services to ensure a secure, well maintained and friendly environment for staff, students and visitors. This will include opening and closing arrangements for one or more properties, daily premises audits/inspections, a range of porterage duties, regular site cleaning, and the processing of all incoming and outgoing deliveries, mail sorting, franking and delivery duties. You will provide a first-line access control/security presence at specified properties, ensuring the safe access and egress of authorized staff, students, visitors and contractors. You will also be required to meet and greet all visitors in a courteous and professional manner, dealing with enquiries as appropriate, alerting hosts of their visitors and/or directing visitors to venues as appropriate.

You will be required to undertake First Aider duties and certified training will be provided along with SIA license training. 

The post holder will be required to work as part of the Estates wide operational staff on a roster and may be required at short notice to meet unexpected operational demand to move between properties on the same day.

The post holder will be required to work a shift pattern which is five days over a 7 day week, across a 4 week cycle as set out below. 

Week (1) 7:00am - 3:00pm

Week (2) 9:00am - 5:00pm

Week (3) 10:00am - 6:00pm

Week (4) 2:30pm - 10:00pm


The shift pattern includes 2 Saturdays and one Sunday over the four week cycle.


 


About you

With demonstrable knowledge of working within a customer facing environment

delivering services that include, portering, security,  mail handling, event support and service operations ideally, you are a trained first aider with SIA accreditation. Experienced at manual handling and 'Goods Inward' operations. You are punctual, conscientious, courteous and customer-focused, displaying a professional approach at all times. You are competent in IT programmes such as MS Office, Email and Internet to enable best use of available information and communications as necessary for the post. You also have experience of conveying information accurately as well as coordinating own effort with that of others so the work is completed effectively in line with team objectives. Crucially you contribute to the improvement of standards by having accurate and up to date knowledge of services available in your own and related areas of work, ensuring that the experience of each customer is positive and satisfactory.
