The communications team of the University of Vienna works in an integrated and topic-oriented way on all its channels. The Corporate Communications unit is the central communication hub of the University of Vienna. In-house or not, we are a point of call for both journalists as well as for students and employees.

To support our team, we are advertising the position of
an expert in international science communication (as soon as possible, in 1010 Vienna)

Working hours: 30 hours per week
Classification according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement for University Staff: Section 54, job group IVa, basic salary EUR 2,791.40 (full-time) The actual salary depends on your professional experience and qualification.
Term of contract: limited to 12 months, with the option of a permanent employment

Duration of employment: 1 year/s

Extent of Employment: 30 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §54 VwGr. IVa with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.

Job Description:
Your tasks:

Topic management and content planning

  • •You are responsible for managing the topics for international science communication.
  • You create, design and publish content for our communication channels, in particular for the research magazine Rudolphina and our social media channels, as well as for international media.
  • You support the development and implementation of online and offline campaigns (project management) for science communication and thus actively contribute to further developing and strengthening science communication at the University of Vienna.

Formats and networks for the communication of research

  • You are in charge of the English-language version of the University’s research magazine Rudolphina.
  • You further develop channels and formats to make them attractive for the international scientific community. You develop and plan new formats and tools for science communication and support their implementation.
  • You further develop channels and formats to make them attractive for the international scientific community.
  • You represent our team in existing international research networks.
  • You regularly develop, report and coordinate channel measures within the team.
  • You manage and supervise projects.

Profile:
Your qualifications:

  • Completed degree programme
  • Experience in the field of research and/or in academia
  • Professional experience in internal and/or external communication; experience in science communication is an advantage
  • Strong interest in research topics
  • Experience in maintaining and developing (online) communication channels
  • Extensive knowledge of English
  • Excellent language skills; excellent text skills, both written and spoken; confident use of spelling and punctuation
  • Experience in communicating with contact persons at all hierarchical levels
