This post is available from 0.8 - 1.0 FTE to support flexibility in work.

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated candidate to join the Office of the President and Vice-Chancellor, as an Executive Assistant.

The University of Southampton is a global top 100 university.  With 5 faculties and a large professional services directorate we are one of the largest employers in Southampton. Our people are our University and they are at the heart of everything we do as we look to positively impact not just the local community but internationally too.

Working within a close-knit team of Executive Assistants you will provide comprehensive and efficient admin support to senior leaders within the University, including diary management, drafting documentation and organising events. The post requires a high level of confidentiality, excellent communication, planning and organisational skills.

This is a busy role where no two days are the same. Based on our lively Highfield campus, the nature of the role means there is a need to be on campus for at least 75% of your time but we will support flexible working where possible.   Flexibility will be required should the business need a greater on-site presence.

About you

With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will be able to build good relationships and partnerships with internal and external organisations and be able to liaise confidently with all stakeholders.  You will be an enthusiastic and committed team player with experience within an Executive Assistant style role.  With proven IT skills you will have the ability to demonstrate initiative and prioritise your own work whilst contributing to the wider team.  Previous experience of diary management on behalf of others is highly desirable along with the ability to manage projects and a strong attention to detail.

What we can offer you

As a university we aim to create an environment where everyone can thrive and are proactive in fostering a culture of inclusion, respect, and equality of opportunity. We believe that we can only truly meet our objectives if we are reflective of society, so we are passionate about creating a working environment in which you are free to bring your whole self to work. We welcome applications from candidates who are committed to helping us create an inclusive work environment. We encourage applications from candidates from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities, people who identify as LGBTQ+; and people with disabilities.

As well as additional benefits that will make your life easier, such as a generous holiday allowance and additional university closure days. We will support your long-term future too, with access to a pension scheme, subsidised health and fitness facilities and a range of discounts. All our benefits can be viewed  here .
