Background

The Examinations Manager leads the university’s Exams Team, responsible for organising and delivering the university-wide examinations. They manage the exams budget, recruitment and training of 100+ invigilators and are responsible for managing all reasonable adjustments outlined on Student Support Plans to ensure examinations are in line with the requirements in accordance with Equality Act 2010.

This role is a fixed term maternity cover of 12 months until June 2025.

Responsibilities

You will manage a team of three to support City and its six Schools with all centrally run examinations. You will lead and manage the effective and efficient organisation and delivery of university-wide examinations throughout the academic year (with three main examination periods in January, May and August). This includes drafting and reviewing examination policies and processes, creating an examination timetable, managing the budget and recruitment and training of approximately 100 invigilators.

You will work with colleagues across all schools and professional services, in particular Timetabling, Student Health and Wellbeing and IT, to ensure the smooth running of examinations.

Person Specification

You will have experience of managing operational teams at a University. This role requires strong communication skills and meticulous attention to detail, alongside data analysis and the ability to implement enhancements into established processes.
