We need to add reliable staff to our pool of invigilators for University's examinations. This role is vital to ensuring smooth running examinations and enabling our students to perform their best in every examination.
We are specifically looking for those with experience in being a Chief Invigilator for a large exam room and/or Reader/Scribe Invigilators.
Invigilators will undertake the following tasks:
- Setting out the examination papers and supporting documents/materials in the examination room
- Assisting students entering the examination room
- Ensuring correct procedures and regulations are followed by students during the examination
- Collecting the examination papers and supporting documents/materials at the end of the examination.
There are four main examination sessions every year. However, you must be available for at least some of the dates of the May exam session.
The majority of exams start at 10.00am and 14.00pm and last between one and three hours. You are able to nominate which exam dates and times you are available to work for, so it can fit in with other work or responsibilities you have. Exams take place from Monday to Saturday.
Invigilators are required to arrive 1 ½ hours before the exam and are likely to finish up to one hour after the exam ends. They are able to claim an hourly rate for the whole time they are working.
Invigilators must attend an invigilator training session before their first session.
This role will not attract sufficient points to obtain a sponsored Skilled Worker visa under the points-based immigration system, however, applications are welcome from candidates who don’t currently have the right to work in the UK, but who would be eligible to obtain a visa via another route.
At Oxford Brookes, inclusivity is one of our five guiding principles: we take positive steps to create an environment in which we celebrate, value and provide equal opportunity to all. We are committed to recruiting from the widest possible pool and welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates who embrace our values, regardless of their background.
As a Disability Confident Employer, we guarantee to interview any disabled applicant who meets the essential selection criteria.
All applicants will need to be interviewed prior to appointment.
