We are now looking for an Estates Technical Manager to join our team on a full time, permanent basis, working 37 hours per week.

- THE ROLE –

Reporting to the Head of Technical Services and Compliance the post holder will be responsible for managing new and traditional estates services and systems across the University. The post holder will ensure all planned preventative maintenance operations are carried out whilst prioritising the reactive and often urgent demanding maintenance needs of the University.
The post holder will be experienced in delivering a high-quality service, they will provide leadership and management of the in-house carpentry, painting and fabric teams and will be required to work collaboratively with other professional services Units in particular with the Estates and Facilities wider team.
The post holder will be required to provide support to the Head of Technical Services and Compliance and provide an internal consultancy service within the Estates & Facilities department, this will include but is not limited to surveys, snagging and dilapidations.

- ABOUT YOU -

To be considered as an Estates Technical Manager, you will need:

  • Educated to a degree standard or in a construction related subject accredited by RICS or equivalent experience.
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • ILM Level 5 or equivalent experience
  • Asbestos Management Qualification
  • Possess good interpersonal, communication and presentational skills, both oral and written, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective organisational skills as well as meet tight deadlines when required.
  • Good working knowledge of the Building Regulations and relevant British & EN Standards
  • Proven experience of effective project management
  • Proven experience of preparing formal tender documentation such as drawings, specifications, schedules of works etc. and contract administration under JCT or NEC.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work to critical targets and deadlines.
  • Able to work in a team as well as autonomously to a high level of accuracy whilst driving performance objectives.
  • Experience of working with listed/heritage buildings

It would be beneficial if you also have:

  • Previous experience in a customer service / consultancy role
  • Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh (oral and written).
