This is a fixed term appointment for up to one year or up to two years part-time

The call is open to applicants who have completed their PhD at a UK research organisation.

Fellowships are aimed at those in the immediately postdoctoral stage of their career, to provide the opportunity to consolidate their PhD through developing publications, networks, research and professional skills. Applicants are required to submit a full application proposal by the ESRC advertised closing date of 16 May 2024, 16:00. Fellowships start on 1 October 2024.

Candidates should have the following:

  • A PhD completed at a UK research organisation.
  • A PhD awarded or thesis submitted and viva voce passed with minor amendments by the application deadline of 16 May 2024 & awarded their PhD by the 1st  October 2024.
  • Have no more than 12 months of active postdoctoral experience. This is measured from the applicant’s viva voce pass date to the application deadline of 16 May 2024.
  • The ability to design a clearly defined programme of work with objectives that are achievable and realistic within the period of the fellowship and with outputs that are appropriate and attainable.
  • The ability to plan and to share the results of the research and to engage with to academic and non-academic audiences
  • The ability to demonstrate awareness and address any ethical issues that may be raised by the proposed fellowship, including the impact plans and user engagement.
  • The ability to plan and justify the resources necessary to complete the programme of work.
  • The ability to engage in impact activities and develop pathways to impact.
