An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Compliance and Engagement Manager to join us in the Eleanor Glanvillle Institute (EGI).

The institute is home to the University’s diversity and inclusion work, providing strategic leadership and coordination of EDI activity, and establishing a coherent EDI framework and a strategy to build an inclusive University that is both holistic and evidence based. It helps to prepare a culturally competent workforce, and a student body prepared to thrive in an increasingly global society, where understanding different cultures and values are increasingly important.

Alongside the ongoing drive to lead the University’s engagement with wider EDI agendas (such as the Athena Swan and Race Equality Charters), the EGI continues to offer internationally leading interdisciplinary research, sector leading educational opportunities, and a diverse postgraduate research community.

Within this role, you will focus on ensuring the continued operational oversight of the University’s EDI regulatory obligations. This will include working with EDI-related groups, such as staff support networks and EDI networks, to ensure the appropriate governance and reporting structures are maintained. You will also ensure that clear processes for completion, assessment and support are in place for Equality Impact Assessments (EIA) of all appropriate activities, and a system for monitoring, reporting, and publishing EIAs is maintained.

You will also have the opportunity to support Gender/Ethnicity Gap/Equal Pay monitoring and annual reporting, action planning and compliance with equality legislation, as well as managing and maintaining UoL’s Annual Cultural Calendar, and coordinate an associated annual events programme of awareness-raising and celebratory activities.

You must be passionate about the EDI agenda, and be able to use your own initiative to determine priorities to achieve the required output. You will be expected to establish effective collaborative working relationships across the University, working closely with PPC colleagues on the EDI agenda.

If you would like further information or an informal discussion about this exciting opportunity, please contact Abigail Powell, Professor in Sociology and Social Policy, at [email protected] .

This is a redeployment opportunity for colleagues who have been placed at risk of redundancy only, which includes anyone on a fixed term contract which is due to end on or before 31 August 2024.
