The Role: Enterprise Architect 

University of Hull Technology Services: Technology Services, where this role will sit, is a new department within IT and is accountable for the ownership of the strategic platforms within the university.  This new way of working for the university aims to drive consistency and governance around the continued iteration and development of technologies which span the entirety of the university.  Examples include: the University’s Data Exchange (UDX); Student Information Systems, ServiceNow, Salesforce and a new ERP.

 Working closely with business stakeholders, the aim of the team is to support the business by aligning improvements and enhancements of the products in alignment with university objectives and goals.  

Role Purpose: 

As a founding member of the architecture team, the post-holder will have a critical role in the design and development of a technology vision and supporting governance, including architecture principles.

You will need to define the enablers required to fulfil the Enterprise Architecture needs of the University and will lead the creation of the University’s Enterprise Architecture vision, ensuring it has a strategic and enduring impact.  This will include providing leading practice Enterprise Architecture expertise in transforming the University’s current state Enterprise Architecture, and building the Enterprise Architecture practice as a bridge between strategy and execution. 

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will include helping shape the strategic direction of the technology estate, including cloud strategy, engaging with the business to ensure join-up of strategic direction; developing roadmaps based on target architectures; defining and leading governance over the technology estate to ensure adherence to principles and standards; and seeking out new technology trends and solutions and applying this knowledge inform the business and technology strategy.

This role has been established to provide a proactive and holistic approach to the delivery of transformation and optimisation initiatives within the University. It is a role with an institution-wide remit and responsibility for developing specific elements of the University’s enterprise, business, and technology architecture. You will be expected to mature the Enterprise Architecture into a trusted, outcome-driven, strategic business partner.
