Engineering Teaching Technician

We are looking for a experienced maker with a passion for educating the next generation of engineers. Your skills will be a valuable addition to the larger team, enhancing excellent hands-on engineering teaching. You will be managing day to day activities in our flagship teaching space, liasing with stakeholders, planning for future sessions and providing support for the best possible practical teaching in the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

  • Working as the first point of contact for students and academics regarding the teaching space.
  • Managing a large teaching space, including consumable levels, practical support, inductions and maintenance.
  • Liasing with academic staff to provide ongoing support to current and future practical taught lessons.
  • Supporting other areas of the team as and when required.
  • Reacting and resolving issues as they arise.
  • Ensuring safe/good working practices in the teaching space.
  • You enjoy working with young people to enable them to reach their potential.
  • You have excellent hands on experience with typical engineering tools and equipment.
  • You are interested in learning to use and maintain new equipment including laser cutters and 3D printers.
  • You know how to work safely in an engineering environment.
  • You have experience of teaching or coaching, ideally (but not necessarily) in an educational context.
  • You are an effective communicator with a variety of people.

Post is offered on a full-time, permanent contract.
