Applications are invited for the post of Electrical Equipment Engineer, in the Technical Services Group within the Department of Physics, which provides design and manufacturing support for Physics research.

The post is a permanent position, subject to the successful completion of the standard probation period of one year.

The successful candidate will be part of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering team.

The postholder will be responsible for the design, installation and general maintenance of electrical and electromechanical equipment and complex scientific installations. The post includes line management of Electrical Appliance Test Technicians and to advise on electrical design or application.  The team will be further developed to meet the requirements of future programmes and systems.  This is an exciting and diverse role for an enthusiastic and adaptable candidate.

Applicants should Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with experience in High Voltage and Safety critical Control systems and be conversant with the related British standards.   

Candidates are expected to demonstrate that they can lead and manage projects from feasibility and conceptual design through to manufacture, final assembly, testing and commissioning.

Previous experience in a scientific research environment will be an advantage.
