This fixed term internship of 12 months is open to second or penultimate year undergraduate students  at the University of Leeds only.

Salary: Grade 3 (£22,214 - £23,144 p.a. depending upon experience)

This role will be based on the University campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Are you currently studying in your second or penultimate year at the University of Leeds? Would you like to gain valuable experience working in a department that aims to raise the aspirations and attainment of learners in schools and colleges across the country? Would you like to share your experiences of applying to, and studying at, the University of Leeds?

This internship offers the opportunity to spend your placement year working full-time with Educational Engagement colleagues.

Educational Engagement is focused on the recruitment and student success of students regardless of background. We do this by delivering specific areas of work but also by working closely with colleagues across the faculties, Marketing Directorate and Student Education Service.

Educational Engagement works with secondary schools and further education colleges to support learners at every stage of their educational journey. We offer a comprehensive and sustained programme of outreach initiatives, projects and events aimed at a range of audiences including prospective students, parents and carers, teachers and other key influencers involved in supporting learners with higher education progression. We provide both generic and subject specific higher education outreach at all stages of the student journey, both on and off campus.

Working across Educational Engagement, you will play a key role in delivering engaging and interactive outreach activities, contributing to projects across the service and supporting the evaluation of this work.

Linking with staff across the University, you will represent the University of Leeds at our on- and off-campus events, working with schools and colleges to ensure that learners, teachers, careers advisers and parents understand the benefits of studying at the University of Leeds, the courses we offer and the progression routes available.

What we offer in return

  • 26 days holiday plus approx.16 Bank Holidays/days that the University is closed by custom (including Christmas) – That’s 42 days a year!
  • Generous pension scheme options plus life assurance.
  • Health and Wellbeing: Discounted staff membership options at The Edge, our state-of-the-art Campus gym, with a pool, sauna, climbing wall, cycle circuit, and sports halls.
  • Personal Development: Access to courses run by our Organisational Development & Professional Learning team.
