This full-time D grade post is available immediately until 14 April 2025, working within Education and Academic Services for the University of Exeter Medical School (UEMS) to backfill colleagues who will be providing maternity cover. This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time in the Knowledge Spa, Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro and some from home. There will also be opportunities to spend time on the Penryn campus.


Role summary

This role offers an exciting opportunity for someone looking to develop their administrative career within an education context across a range of areas of activity. Our team in Truro provides operational support for clinical and academic teaching activity for medical students in Years 2 to 5 of the BMBS (medical) programme across Cornwall. we are looking for a confident individual with a flexible approach and strong communication skills who has excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage a diverse workload. The role holder will support a range of areas and so this is a good opportunity to develop a range of skills and acquire experience across the medical programme.

About you

You will be a positive person who enjoys working with a wide range of colleagues in a local multi-disciplinary team and on different campuses (usually via MS Teams). We are looking for someone with excellent organisational, IT and communication skills. You should be a good problem-solver who likes developing and improving processes and projects. You will have gained success working proactively in a team to deliver multiple objectives to high standards. Ideally you will have experience within a large organisation such as a higher education institution or the NHS. You should also have a commitment to working with young people in an educational environment.  

You will be expected to provide specialist administrative support and act as a first / named point of contact for internal and external stakeholders. You will promote the consistent and correct application of processes, systems and codes of practice ensuring compliance with internal and external regulation. The need to work competently, flexibly and collaboratively within a wider team in a busy environment is important.
