Set in the peaceful surroundings of Wivenhoe Park on our Colchester Campus, our Day Nursery offers high quality day care to children from 3 months to 5 years. We serve the local community, University staff and students.

Wivenhoe Park Day Nursery is part of the University of Essex Campus Services Limited and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Essex, created in 2010 to manage its diverse range of commercial functions.

Duties of the role

We are currently recruiting for qualified (Level 3) Early Years Educators to join our friendly and diverse team at the Day Nursery.

Responsibilities will include; planning and implementing learning opportunities for children aged under 3 years old, demonstrating care, value and respect for children; to work as a team and work closely with parents to keep them informed of their child's developments; and follow Ofsted requirements and health and safety guidelines at all times, whilst adhering to safeguarding procedures at all times.

The hours of work are 38 hours per week, operational time is Monday – Friday between 8am and 6pm but you will only be required to work your 38 hours over 4 days.

Qualifications and skills required

We are looking for candidates that are passionate about the early years and value children as independent and unique learners, who enjoy supporting children to learn and develop through a child led approach into confident individuals that are eventually ready to start school.

You will have an NVQ level 3 in childcare or equivalent and have previous experience of working within a childcare setting, particularly with children under the age of 5. Sound knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage is essential, ideally with experience of working in a multi-cultural environment.

Due to the nature of the work, this appointment is subject to an Enhanced DBS check (Children). You will also have the ability to undertake the physical aspects of the post.
