Duties of the Role

The Duty Manager (Outdoor Facilities) will be the lead member of staff on-shift ensuring that sports facilities and activities are operated and delivered in accordance with the required high standards of customer service. The Duty Manager will be responsible for leading a team of Team Leaders, Sports Assistants and Reception Staff on shift, whilst setting high standards and embedding a culture of excellence.

The role will support the Operations Manager in promoting and embedding a culture of excellence, directing work programmes and ensuring an efficient safe and effective service delivery. The role will maintain a high degree of visibility throughout the facility proactively managing and developing service delivery and the implementation of quality systems, responding to and resolving customer queries, complaints and enquiries. The Duty Manager will deputise for the Operations Manager where appropriate. Additionally, the Duty Manager (Outdoor facilities) will have responsibility for ensuring that the outdoor facilities are maintained and operated to a high standard.

Skills and qualifications required 

The successful candidate will have excellent IT and communication skills and a high-quality work ethic, with the ability to engage and build strong meaningful and formal relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and partners.

You will have experience of motivating and leading staff to achieve high levels of customer service and exceed planned targets and objectives. Candidates will have experience working in a multi-sport facility and managing large scale events.

Extensive knowledge of relevant regulatory and Health & Safety Legislation is essential, along with holding a Higher Professional Diploma or ISRM Sport and Recreation Management Certificate (or equivalent experience). Experience of working with climbing walls and a valid first aid certificate are desirables. 

Due to the nature of the role he ability to fulfil the requirements of a DBS check.
