Staffordshire University Games Institute seeks dynamic and enthusiastic individuals to join our expanding department as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Games Environment Art.

At Staffordshire University, we're dedicated to fostering excellence in games education. We are Ukie (UK Interactive Entertainment) members and proudly host their student conference. Our accolades include being recognized as the Top Games Department in the UK by the Rookies Global League Table 2023, and we are multiple TIGA industry awards winners, including Best Educational Initiative for our 1UP placement scheme. This scheme employs over 30 students to run our in-house games studio, which produced the award-winning arcade game MechHead.   • Inspire the Next Generation: Engage with talented students through dynamic environment art modules, supervise final-year projects, and prepare students for successful careers in the UK and international games industry.
  • Contribute to Cutting-Edge Research: Collaborate with colleagues in Art, Design, and Technology to drive our ambitious research, scholarship, and enterprise initiatives.
  • Develop your Practice: With dedicated workload allowance for scholarship and personal development, and colleagues to work with on a variety of projects. The department is highly interdisciplinary, covering all aspects of game production and a unique environment to develop a distinctive academic portfolio.
  • Engage with the Community: Participate in recruitment activities, outreach programs, and local industry partnerships to strengthen our civic engagement and enhance our recruitment strategies.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver innovative teaching materials.
  • Contribute to our award-winning provision, which has recently been revalidated.
  • Teach and assess students across various modules.
  • Demonstrate techniques.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to maintain subject proficiency.
  • Lead and participate in research and scholarship activities.
  • Collaborate with industry partners to ensure our courses remain cutting-edge.
  • Support recruitment activities, including open days and community engagement.

About the Institute:

The Staffordshire Games Institute is one of the largest in the world, with a team of over 70 academics across two campuses. We offer a unique interdisciplinary environment that covers all technical aspects of games production, split into Art, Design, and Technology subject areas. Our modern Stoke on Trent campus features state-of-the-art technologies, including specialized games development labs and cutting-edge research spaces.
