Diversity and Inclusion Specialist (KTP Associate) (Fixed term)

Updated: over 1 year ago
Location: Nottingham, ENGLAND
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 05 Dec 2022

Do you have a PhD in linguistics and a desire to use this practically in the world of law and beyond? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Diversity & Inclusion Specialist to join our Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between Linguistic Profiling for Professionals in the School of English at the University of Nottingham and Browne Jacobson LLP. Based at Browne Jacobson, you will have the opportunity to take a central role in expanding and developing inclusivity into business practices and people processes.

Browne Jacobson is a national law firm with five UK offices, including its Nottingham headquarters. Social and environmental impact are top of its business agenda, and the firm strives to improve outcomes for every person, community and business it serves. As the UK's number one Social Mobility Employer, Browne Jacobson recognises that law should reflect the society it serves and is committed to working towards social mobility, diversity and inclusion in the firm and the legal profession.

We particularly welcome applications from individuals who are currently under-represented in linguistics research. You should have a PhD in Corpus Linguistics, Sociolinguistics and/or Discourse Analysis and be committed to the practical application of diversity and inclusion. The project gives you an opportunity to be at the forefront of diversity and inclusion at Browne Jacobson, as well as the national landscape. A key aspect of your role will be to transfer the University’s linguistics research to enhance diversity and inclusion across the firm and its business. If you have previous experience of postdoctoral professional communication work then this would be an advantage, though not essential. If you have recently completed a PhD in a relevant area, then we also welcome your application.
You will be employed by the University of Nottingham, but based at Browne Jacobson’s Nottingham office, with flexible working patterns. The project includes visits to the firm’s other offices and key clients. You will have access to University resources and a range of benefits and rewards, including: staff discounts, travel and pension schemes. Through the KTP, you will be given the support and mentoring needed to nurture your talent with a generous £5,000 budget for training and Continuing Professional Development to help develop your personal and professional career goals.

This is a full-time, fixed-term 30-month contract. This post is funded through a KTP award, a UK Government scheme, enabling graduates (KTP Associates) to work on exciting and challenging projects in a partnership between a business and university. It is an opportunity to fast track your career by managing a strategic project that has potential to transform the business.
