We are looking for a Disability Adviser to join us on a full-time, permanent basis, working 37 hours per week.

- THE ROLE –

As a Disability Adviser you will provide advice and information to disabled students and applicants, assess support needs, implement support, assist with Disabled Students' Allowances applications process, keeping students and relevant University staff informed of outcomes. Alongside colleagues in the Student Services Department, you will ensure that appropriate support is in place for disabled students.

- ABOUT YOU -

To be considered as a Disability Adviser, you will need:

  • Excellent Knowledge of disability legislation, Disabled Student Allowance and an in-depth understanding or learning support in a higher education context
  • Experience of providing customer facing services and working in a customer-centred way with internal and external organisations
  • Experience of managing a significant caseload and accurate record keeping while understanding confidentiality and data protection issues
  • Experience in the delivery of staff training with evidence of willingness to innovate in training and development
  • Good understanding of, and commitment to, the use of technology to support the delivery of customer services
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in IT including knowledge of enabling technology and software programmes-
  • A good level of general education

Being educated to a degree level would be desirable as would experience of assessing needs and providing one to one support to disabled adults. Knowledge of general student support-related policies and practices would be advantageous to your application, and the ability to communication in Welsh.
