We are looking to appoint a new Digital Technical Manager to work within our technical services team in the faculty of Art, Design and Media. The role is located in the Parkside building in our dynamic city centre campus. The Digital Technical team support learning in a wide range of creative disciplines, such as: film and TV (production and post production), radio, photography, graphics and animation. 

This role will require the post holder to support staff and students through lessons and assignments and commercial clients in our studio environments by ensuring resources and activities are working effectively and safely.

Working closely with the Head of Technical Services and three other Technical Managers, you will be responsible for purchasing and maintaining resources, collaborating with course directors and lecturers, liaising with suppliers and supporting the development of your team in order to deliver the best possible student experience.

Through effective management of the Digital Technical team and its resources the successful candidate will:

  • Work within the technical management team
  • Encourage safe practices within the faculty
  • Work closely with the University’s central Health and Safety team
  • Work closely with the commercial manager
  • Liaise with schools and course leaders
  • Research new methods and resources
  • Managing a budget
  • Building and maintaining relationships with external suppliers and contractors
  • Manage database of resources

Qualified to degree level and/or significant experience in, but not limited to the following criteria:

  • Digital technology
  • One or more of the disciplines supported by the Digital Technical team
  • Experience in Microsoft packages, such as Excel, SharePoint, Teams and Flow
  • MAC and PC experience


  • NEBOSH or IOSH qualification
  • COSHH certified
  • Project management
