We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic candidate to work alongside a team of staff development and digital delivery professionals to develop and oversee the creation and implementation of strategic and operational plans to deliver digital skills to all staff. This is fully aligned to the goals of our new Digital Strategy and ‘Our People’ parts of the University of Exeter Strategy 2030 .

This will feature working with staff across all areas of the university and all its campuses to undertake organisational development research, shape strategy and policy, develop and procure training, guidance and resources.

As a Digital Skills Lead you’ll work alongside the HR Business Partner and Head of People Development to drive forward our Digital upskilling strategy from within our new growing Digital team (you’ll be professionally homed in HR and be embedded within the Digital team.)

What you’ll be doing…

  • Work with stakeholders to lead the development, delivery and evaluation of a ‘one stop shop’ of Digital Skills development activities for all colleagues at all stages of their career journey.
  • Engage in benchmarking and horizon-scanning activities to stay abreast of developments in the sector and inform work within the team and across the institution.
  • Acting as an L&D Specialist, interpret development needs and ensure services meet identified requirements, aligned to Institutional, Faculty and People Development Strategies.
  • Work closely with student experience teams to ensure we take a holistic approach to digital upskilling for staff and students.

We’re really looking for…

  • You will have knowledge and experience of digital upskilling at an organisational level (not necessarily in a University) along with experience of design, specification, procurement, delivery and evaluation of digital skills development interventions which have organisational impact.
  • You will have extensive knowledge of general learning and development principles, methods, theories and current best practice and experience of “Agile” working practices and their application.
  • You will have excellent IT skills in standard office functions (eg MS Teams, Word, Excel etc) and learning tools (eg Mentimeter, Mural) along with knowledge of application development methodologies and technology used in a modern learning environment.
  • The ideal candidate will have the ambition to excel and constantly improve, and the confidence to liaise with people at all levels.  
  • Emotionally intelligent and able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Someone who has excellent interpersonal skills and can be organised and methodical in your approach to work.
  • Ability to break down barriers and build lasting relationships across the team and University.
  • Someone who is not afraid to bring new ideas to table and who wants to make a massive positive impact on the future of education.
