Job summary

The role holder will support continued design and development, and delivery of the online flagship program for the school, the Global Master of Public Health . You will work closely with program/specialization/module teams, including leads and Teaching Fellows, to build and maintain the online learning environment, currently facilitated by Coursera as our platform partner. This also includes contributing to both strategic and operational planning as part of the broader College level curriculum review exercise and related strategies.

The role holder must have sufficient technical and instructional skills (including assessment best practice) in order to produce high quality learning experiences and to provide guidance and training to students and staff on the use of digital technologies and learning technology solutions. You must be an excellent team worker with a creative mind-set and passion for digital learning who can hit the ground running. This role will involve working in close collaboration with other faculties on cross-college activities and working flexibly to meet requirements.

This role supports the wider objectives of the Faculty of Medicine’s Educational Transformation strategy and objectives, and the College-wide Interdisciplinary EdTech Lab initiative to become a leading Centre of Excellence in delivering digitally enhanced, online and blended learning programs. This includes supporting the development and innovation in digital learning technologies and pedagogies for online teaching and extension activities such as Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs).

Duties and responsibilities

Your excellent technical and instructional skills will be put to use as you:



  • support pedagogic transformation of ‘on campus’ modules by building, testing and deploying high quality online content and assessment using all institutional tools.

  • have the opportunity to participate in technology pilot projects and undertake user testing of learning technology systems.

  • produce high quality learning experiences and to provide guidance and training to students and staff on the use of digital technologies and learning technology solutions.


Essential requirements

You will need a degree or equivalent qualification with educational experience/knowledge; or equivalent professional experience in learning technology, online learning or pedagogy. In addition, you will need significant experience in creating content and assessments using Blackboard, Moodle, EdEx, FutureLearn or another VLE, their ancillary technologies (e.g. Panopto, Turnitin, WISEflow, Mobius), and in a mobile environment. Plus, significant experience of creating digital assessments and embedding best practice.
