Development Coordinator

There is no closing date for this vacancy. Applications will be assessed as they are received and candidates meeting the selection criteria will be invited for interview. Early application is advised.

Salary: £25,365- £35,522 per annum (pro-rata, if appropriate)

Nuffield College seeks to appoint a Development Coordinator to join the friendly Alumni and Development Office on a permanent basis.

Nuffield is a graduate college of the University of Oxford dedicated to advanced study and research in the social sciences, particularly economics, politics, and sociology. The Development Office was established in 2015 to strengthen our community of Alumni and with a very clear fundraising mission: the aim to fully fund every student at Nuffield through endowed scholarships. Nuffield has a small student cohort every year, as well as Fellows, Research Fellows (postdocs), Visiting Fellows and Honorary Fellows, who all show much support with this aim; we have nearly endowed nine scholarships so far.

The postholder will be responsible for general administrative support for the team, responding to emails, creating travel itineraries, maintaining and updating the Development and Alumni Relations System database (training available for DARS), dealing with Alumni bookings for events, or room bookings when they wish to stay overnight; be the first contact for Alumni who wish to donate, or update us of news, careers or similar. In this position, you will undertake some prospect research for the Warden and Director of Development, and will work with the Senior Development Executive as well as other operational teams within the College community. Some social media activity would also be required, such as drafting a Tweet or updating news on LinkedIn or Facebook.

We are looking for a well-organised and personable individual, keen to start work in an environment of higher education fundraising and alumni relations at Oxford University. The candidate will be a positive team player, comfortable working on a number of projects at once, often to very short deadlines, and able to prioritise well. Applicants should hold an undergraduate degree, or possess equivalent competence gained through relevant experience. A high level of computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office is essential, in addition to high standards of accuracy in areas such as database inputting and financial reporting. Applicants should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work appropriately and effectively with a wide range of people.

The post is intended to be a full-time position, but we will also consider applications from candidates who wish to hold the post on a part-time basis. All other aspects of working flexibly can be discussed in the interview, we are a small and friendly team that takes care of a good work-life balance!

Our benefits package includes 41 days annual leave inclusive of public holidays and closed periods at Christmas and Easter, free meals whilst on duty, a season-ticket loan scheme, and contributory pension scheme. Reduced rates for the membership at the University’s sports facilities (i.e. Rosenblatt Pool) are another benefit, as well as free access to Oxford University Libraries, reduced rates for the Botanic gardens or the Ashmolean Museum exhibitions.

Full details of the role, including selection criteria and information on how to apply can be found in the Job Description.

Job Description

The post is full-time (35 hours per week), however, applications from candidates who wish to take up the post on a part-time basis will also be considered, flexible work (a mix of remote and on-site possible).
