As part of the College’s ongoing investment in our staff team we are looking to appoint to this position in our rapidly growing School of Construction. This area provides a broad curriculum covering a range of courses in a range of trades including brickwork, carpentry/furniture, electrical, plumbing and stonemasonry.
This role will report to the Head of School and by working collaboratively you will deliver inspirational leadership to the curriculum area team. You will be responsible for providing an outstanding student experience through high quality teaching, learning and assessment. You will use your effective leadership and management skills to inspire your team to ensure students are able to achieve their potential.
You will quickly develop an understanding of the vision for the area and be responsible for engaging and motivating the curriculum team to deliver on this. You will lead the FE course team(s) and provision and drive a high quality student experience through all stages of learning journey. In addition, you will be responsible for monitoring and supporting the drive in recruitment, retention and achievement of both apprentices and students. You will actively seek out opportunities to enhance employability skills of students. You will proactively engage in quality assurance and improvement.
The successful candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, abilities and qualities will include:
- Minimum of grade C in GCSE Maths and English Language (or equivalent)
- Degree in a relevant subject area (or equivalent)
- PGCE or CertEd (or willingness to work towards)
- Experience of working within a similar role
- Experience of agriculture and/or an environment specialism.
- Experience of implementing strategies to enhance student success rates
- Successful record of implementing innovative curriculum developments
- A commitment to a learner-centred approach and to strategies that will place the learner at the centre of all developments
- Developed and highly effective people management skills
- Commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
- Excellent communication skills
- Good organisational and time management skills
