Deputy Centre Administration Manager

The Centre for Academic Language and Development is seeking to appoint two outstanding Deputy Centre Administration Managers, to help lead and develop the Centre’s administration team and manage the delivery of student administration services. As part of the University’s ambitious Internationalisation strategy, the Centre is currently undergoing an exciting and rapid period of growth: your skills in communication, negotiation, continuous process improvement, and attention to detail will be imperative. This post reports to the Centre Administration Manager – deputising for them as and when required – and line manages multiple Senior Administrator and Student Administrator posts. You should have demonstrable experience of supervising workloads and output quality as well as a passion for leading and developing colleagues.   

This role requires an individual to be both a manager and a team player, and to have the skills to balance both individual and team workloads. The ability to take initiative and be proactive is key – as is the ability to seek out and make improvements to non-typical university processes. We are seeking someone able to work in partnership with teaching and professional services staff to drive forward change and deliver effective, efficient processes, yet be flexible and adaptable to different situations. A strong commitment to Equality and Diversity is vital.

One Deputy Centre Administration Manager will oversee the Centre’s International Foundation Programme and one will oversee the Centre’s In-Sessional/Pre-Sessional provisions.

International Foundation Programme

The International Foundation Programme is a full-time, one-year university preparation course, designed to prepare international students for degree-level study at the University of Bristol.

In-Sessional / Pre-Sessional

The In-Sessional provisions focus on non-standard courses throughout the academic year liaising with stakeholders from all Faculties across the University.

The Pre-Sessional course is a non-standard intensive preparation course for international students progressing to primarily PGt courses at the University of Bristol.

  • You have demonstratable student administration experience, knowledge of education processes and enjoy using your organisational skills to deliver a high-quality service to students and staff
  • You are looking to broaden your management experience within education administration or looking to take a first step into a managerial role.
  • You have a high standard of interpersonal skills, can communicate clearly with staff and students and can building effective working relationships.
  • You are flexible and a good team player, as well as being able to work independently and show initiative.
  • You thrive in a busy environment, both multi-tasking and reacting quickly to changing circumstances, but also be proactive in improving processes and maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • You are experienced in using a range of IT systems and able to adapt to new systems and processes quickly.
